Kangaroo Island Project of the Month

ALL NEWS

This Project is in the stunning location of Emu Bay in Kangaroo Island. This getaway was designed with outdoor entertaining and the stunning landscape in mind. The stand out feature of this house is the ArborCrest Commercial stacker door. This clever design enhances the charming outdoor area, and automatically transforms this space.

The panels stack back into a wall cavity, to allow maximum access and uninterrupted view of the ocean front.

This home uses ArborCrest Commercial grade windows and doors throughout, which take the brunt of the harsh ocean front conditions. We have used a 25micron Natural Anodised frame for maximum protection. The colour of the frame creates a striking contrast with the natural external finishes, and enhances the architectural design of the building.

The high-lite aluminium windows allow lots of natural light to enter the open living area, and the Biparting door facing the beach front allows for ventilation and quick access to the beach.

Another key feature of the living space, is the recessed track, which helps to keep with the natural flow of the space.

Seamless flow between the inside and out. The combination of sliding and fixed glass panels give our clients a lovely bright and open living space that shows off their great outdoor entertaining area.

This bright open space is enhanced by the addition of highlight windows, which also help to break up the height of the ceiling, whilst letting in lots of natural light. The back entertaining area features a large aluminium Multistack sliding door that is in keeping with the homes theme of clean lines and contemporary style. The three panel sliding door has a recessed track, and a smooth open and close motion. This type of sliding door was chosen to minimalize the amount of frame seen as the size of the glass panel can be wider than when selecting other door styles. The larger glass panels also reduce the disruption to the view of the pool, as there is less frame at eyesight to distract you. The large panels create the perfect frame for the pool area, and allow easy access to the outside as the panels easily and seamlessly slide back to one direction rather than stacking either inside or outside.

Outside, the entertaining area is completely open. The clever installation of retractable screens between the outside rendered columns, allow the air to flow in, while also keeping the insects out. This allows the internal doors to be open, without the worry of letting flies in. The alternative option for this project would have been to install our ArborCrest retractable screen on the Multistack sliding door which would then allow the customer to ventilate their home when they are not entertaining as well.

The bifold doors in the courtyard compliment the horseshoe shape, that allow the clients to completely open, partly close, or completely close the courtyard. It also incorporates the use of a sashless window within the bifold door for easy ventilation.

This very functional kitchen has an ArborCrest top hung cavity sliding door to access the BBQ easily, and a sashless window directly onto the stone benchtop, that can be used as an unconventional servery, allowing incredibly easy access to all areas outdoors, and creating the perfect entertaining space.

The bathrooms and bedrooms have been designed to maximise the outside view by using large fixed picture windows and louvre windows to allow maximum ventilation without requiring a large opening. Louvre windows are great for this as unlike a sliding window for example where only half can be open and half remains fixed, every panel of the louvre window opens to have complete airflow.
